Re-design or upgrade your Central Heating System.

Technical Home Services provide a comprehensive domestic modification service, also providing advise on upgrading of an existing Central Heating Systems.

We have dedicated support from manufactures,. You will be amazed at the simple alterations that can be made, This is where we are different from others we are highly qualified, we advise, supply, replace or install

Make your system more efficient

All central heating systems must have the correct type of controls in order to make the boiler, cylinder and radiators run as efficiently as possible whilst giving you the hot water and heating that you need when you need it.

Keeping your home warm and having hot water is important to us all -but have you ever considered that it could be costing you far more than necessary? Technical Home Services can provide a range of central heating controls to update your system, which mean more than just reliability. They are tried and tested modern features that offer many extra benefits and cost saving efficiencies.Modifications can save you up to 20% on fuel costs. {Depending on customers original layout.} Selective room control will save money, Energy Efficiency Best Practice from Technical Home Service.

Intelligent Controls

Ask about intelligent controls, Control your system remotely!
We can install a full range of controls designed to meet your needs.

Modern conventional systems should have the following controls:

  • Programmer (heating and hot water controls)
  • Room thermostat
  • Cylinder thermostat
  • Wiring centre
  • Motorised valves
  • Pump

Heating Zones

  • Install zones in your house, have upstairs working separately to downstairs, have the Lounge working on its own.
  • Programmable room thermostats independent room control wired or wireless.
  • Thermostatic radiator valves (on selected radiators)
  • Programmable Room thermostats
  • All systems should have heating control, and if TRV’S are installed a room thermostat should also be installed. Building Regs & Best Practice recommend Zone control.

Central Heating Radiators

We supply & replace a high quality radiators which come fitted with or without top grilles and side panels. The radiators are supplied in an all white finish, the smooth surface of the radiators are achieved by a unique two coat paint process that ensures a long and hardwearing lifespan.

Designer Radiators

You may decide to have a different style radiator, for example we can supply a laddered towel rail for the bathroom which comes in a stunning chrome, white and gold finish, these towel rails come in a variety of sizes to suit the size of your room.

For a different look to your room there are the old style column radiators which come in a variety of finishes and colours. The radiators are more expensive as they are made to order based on the classic cast iron design.

We can advise, provide choice from traditional to futurist designer radiators, for those that would like creative and functional solutions with a daring aesthetic, radiators that fit seamlessly and unobtrusively into interiors and give a feeling of well-being. Please ask for details.

Fanned raditors also available especially idea for the conservatory or under kitchen units.

Chemical Cleaning and Protection of Central Heating Systems

Professionally trained in Power Flushing & Chemical Treatments

What is Power Flushing and why is it needed?

'POWER FLUSHING', 'JET FLUSHING' are all expressions used [in the heating trade over many years] to denote the process by which heating systems are forcibly cleansed using water at high velocity, but low pressure, so that no physical damage is caused to the system. The process can be made even more effective with the addition of powerful cleansing and mobilising agents.

The objective is to restore systems with circulation and boiler noise problems [caused by sludge and corrosion deposits] o optimum operation. Power flushing removes these deposits and the problems that they cause.

These problems are not inevitable, and good design, care and maintenance of a heating system will prevent and often cure them.

Possible Symptoms

  • Cold spots
  • Poor circulation
  • Noisy systems
  • System blockages
  • Expensive bills
  • Dirty system water
  • Is your heating system showing signs of old age?
  • Does it take ages to heat up?
  • Are some radiators completely or partially cold?
  • Do radiators need frequent bleeding?
  • Strange and unpleasant noises come the boiler?
  • Repeated pump failures?

Any of these symptoms could indicate that the system has circulation and flow problems as a result of internal corrosion, scale and sludge formation.
We offer a controlled chemical cleaning service for most domestic wet central heating systems. A professional service that can chemically treat and flush clean deposits from your system, with minimal disturbance and disruption to the normal operation of the system, often without disconnecting the boiler or any radiators.
At the end of the flushing process, the system is full of water, and re-instatement of the system to normal operation takes only a short while also we protect the system when finished.

Central Heating Water Analysis

We undertake water analysis tests which enables usrs to make an immediate determination of the quality of water in a heating system, enabling us to understand the causes of problems and to select the appropriate treatment to prevent future system failures and call backs.

We can indicate to customers whether a system has been properly pre-commission cleaned, if corrosion is either taking place or is likely to occur, whether the system should be power flushed and whether it has been treated with the correct level of corrosion inhibitor. If power flushing is required, analysis can confirm that all deposits and residues have been purged from a system.

Wet central heating systems must be properly cleansed and treated with corrosion inhibitor in order to protect them from the otherwise inevitable decay as system metals trend back to their natural state.

We advise and give solutions and present the customer with choices.

Boiler Efficiency

The Government recently produced an Energy White paper to make the heating industry more energy efficient.

The main driver in the White Paper is changes to the Building Regulations so that by 2005 all replacement and new boilers installed will have to have an energy efficiency rating of A or B, in accordance with SEDBUK (Seasonal Efficiency of Domestic Boilers in the UK). Under current regulations, gas boilers need to meet a minimum SAP (Standard Assessment Procedure) of 78%.

SEDBUK efficiency bands range from A-G with Band A having an efficiency of over 90% and band G falling below 70%. You may view a database showing the efficiency of domestic by going to energy Efficiency web site

Peace of mind, lower fuel costs

We are fully qualified and are able to advise you on our range of boilers and central heating system improvement. Their modern features offer the following:

  • Up to 30% lower fuel bills and higher efficiency
  • Environmentally friendly patented technology
  • Flexible siting - floor or space saving wall mounted
  • Stylish and unobtrusive design in a range of sizes
  • A range of ‘combination’ boilers that give instant hot water without needing a hot water cylinder
  • Easy to use control packages that can add to further savings
  • Choice of new technology radiators that gives instant heat with minimum use of fuel

Which boiler is right for you?

  • Traditional Boiler
  • Combination Boiler
  • System Boilers
  • Condensing Boilers

Although boilers differ in size and whether they stand on the floor, hang on the wall or sit inside a fireplace, probably the most important difference is the way they produce hot water for washing, bathing and showering. Traditional boilers and system boilers heat water in a storage cylinder, typically sited in an airing cupboard. Combination boilers heat water instantaneously (via a special heat exchanger inside the boiler) only when you open a hot tap.

Traditional boilers are the simplest kind, with the fewest components inside. System boilers and combination boilers are more complex and tend to be larger because they always include the pump which circulates water through the radiators, and an expansion vessel to accommodate the increase in volume when it gets hot.

Traditional and system boilers with stored hot water systems are best suited to family homes where hot water demand is usually greatest. The average combination boiler is best suited to single households or couples with modest hot water needs.

How modern technology is driving down fuel bills

The new condensing boilers can save between 15-20% on gas consumption over standard boilers. Compared to boilers over 10 years old, the energy savings can be as high as 35%. Modern boilers convert up to 93% of the gas burned to heat.

This effectively extracts more heat from the gases to heat the water in the central heating system. Only 7% of heat is lost through the flue, so you burn a lot less gas for the same amount of heat.
